Pair of Colonials Earn NEC Awards

Moon Township, Pa. - Two members of the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team were honored by the Northeast Conference for their performances in the most recent victories for the program.   Kristin Yoviene was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week while teammate Jessica Karwacki was tabbed the NEC Co-Rookie of the Week.

Kristin Yoviene (Easton, Md. / Saints Peter and Paul) helped the Colonials to a perfect record on the weekend as she recorded nine goals and ten points in the victories over LIU-Brooklyn and Wagner.  In a game where the offense netted 19 goals, Yoviene led the team with four goals against the Blackbirds on Thursday afternoon.  She also led the squad with five goals during the game on Saturday against the Seahawks.  The sophomore also recorded an assist in the 12-7 victory over Wagner.

Jessica Karwacki (Sparks, Md. / Hereford) provided the Colonials with much needed posessions in both victories as she recorded a total of 28 draw controls in the two games.  To go along with her draw control success, Karwacki also netted three goals and contributed an assist to the scoring production.  The freshman also picked up two ground balls as the Colonials improved to 6-5 overall and 2-2 against NEC opponents.

The Colonials will return to action this weekend with a pair of NEC home games.  For the final two home games of the season, RMU will host Monmouth on Friday and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday with both games starting at 1:00 p.m.
