Kotula Competing in Javelin at NCAA Prelims

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's track & field team continues its 2013 outdoor spring campaign this weekend by taking part in the NCAA East Preliminary Round on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

Junior Rachael Kotula (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) will represent the Colonials, taking part in the javelin Saturday at Noon.

Kotula enters the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary Round ranked 36th out of 48 competitors in the javelin, with her best toss of the season of 45.46 meters (149'2") coming at the 2013 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in West Long Branch, N.J.

The performance at the NEC Championships was good enough to earn Kotula second in the event and earn her All-NEC Second Team accolades for the third straight season.

Kotula is making her second appearance in the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the javelin, having finished 22nd in 2011 as a freshman with a final toss of 43.97 meters (144'3").
