Colonials Continue to Attend NHL Prospect Camps

Moon Township, Pa. – Two members of the Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team will be participating in NHL Prospect Camps this week.  Senior from the 2012-2013 season Adam Brace and junior Cody Wydo will both hit the ice this week with teams along the East Coast.

Adam Brace (Cobden, Ontario / Canisius College / Pembroke Lumber Kings) spent the past week with the Minnesota Wild and will hit the ice with an NHL team again this week.  Brace will be heading south to take part in the Carolina Hurricanes' Prospects Development Camp.  The Hurricanes' Player Development Camp is scheduled to start on July 16 at PNC Arena with direction from the Carolina coaching staff.  A prospect game and skills competition will conclude the camp on July 20 as a part of the Hurricanes' Summerfest.

“Adam had an excellent year for us last year and continued it in the ECHL with Florida during their playoff run,” said head coach Derek Schooley.  “We are glad he has the opportunities to show Minnesota and Carolina what he has to offer at the next level.”

Cody Wydo (Southgate, Mich. / Motor City Metal Jackets) will be spending the week with the coaching staff of the New Jersey Devils.  One of eight forwards invited by the Devils to the camp, Wydo wasted no time showing off his scoring ability as he picked up a goal for the Red Team during Tuesday's scrimmage.

Schooley spoke of Wydo, “Cody has been an underrated player on a national level the past two seasons but he is an appreciated player for us.”  He continued, “I am glad to see him get recognition from the Devils and we are very excited to see what the next two seasons have in store for Cody at Robert Morris.”

The Colonials will set out on their tenth season with an exhibition contest against the University of Toronto on October 6.  Senior captain Colin South (Sewickley, Pa. / Bay State Breakers) will lead Robert Morris after the record season from a year ago.
