Netzler Adds International Flavor with Recruit

Head Coach Olivia Netzler announces the signing of a fifth recruit for the 2013 season.

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team has added a fifth member to the incoming class for the upcoming 2013 season.  Head Coach Olivia Netzler has announced the signing of Harriet Brown to a national letter of intent.

Brown (Salisbury, United Kingdom / Canford School) is the third international recruit to join the Colonials for the 2013 season.  Playing field hockey both at the Canford School and with multiple club teams, Brown has been a part of many impressive squads.  In each of her four years at Canford, Brown led her team to at least a third-place finish at the West of England Championships, including a second-place finish in 2009.  From 2009-2011, Brown's Canford squad was the County Champions.

Brown has gained the majority of her club experience with Hampshire County where she has played since she joined at the U13 level.  She would then become a captain of the U15 team and would continue to hold that honor as she was the leader of the U16 and U17 teams for Hampshire County.  In her last two years, Brown has played with other clubs along with her duties for Hampshire County.  While playing at the U16 level, she joined Bournemouth where they earned third-place at the England National Finals.  In her short time with Bournemouth, Brown earned the U16 Most Valuable Offensive Player award while also being named the Ladies' First Team Junior MVP.

Brown joins Simone Bindels (Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Netherlands / Open Schoolgemeenschap Bijlmer) and Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) as the international recruits to join RMU for the fall season.  Two other recruits, Kylie Luke (Ligonier, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) and Briana Stine (Columbia, Md. / Atholton), will also suit up for the Colonials for the first time in 2013 as the incoming group looks to improve on a 5-13 record in 2012.
