Pittsburgh, Pa. - Sophomore Kristen Miles (London, Ont. / London Devillettes), Sophomore Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Oh. / Ohio Flames) and Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) were selected to the College Hockey America All-Conference team today for their outstanding efforts as members of the Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team.
Miles and McLaughlin were selected to the All-CHA second team while Rossi was a unanimous selection to the All-CHA Rookie team.
Miles, a sophomore forward, led the team this season in goals, scoring 15 as well as adding eight assists for 23 points on the season. She also accumulated six multi-point games as well as scoring the program's first hat-trick this season against Union College in a 7-2 win on October 14, 2006.
McLaughlin, a sophomore goaltender, played a key role in the success of the Colonials this season. The second year net-minder out of Sheffield Village, Ohio finished the regular with a 3.21 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. McLaughlin picked up three shut-outs this season including a 4-0 doughnut against Niagara, a 2-0 victory against Vermont and 1-0 win against Sacred Heart. All of her shut-outs have been away from the RMU Island Sports Center.
Rossi, a freshman goaltender, made a smooth transition into the college game this season. The netminder from Kunkletown, Pennsylvania finished the regular season with a 3-5-0 record while holding a 3.03 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Rossi earned victories in goal against Chatham, 13-0, Sacred Heart, 5-1 and at Northeastern, 3-2.
The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team heads into this weekends College Hockey America Championship Tournament as the 4 seed. The Colonials are set to play the 1 Mercyhurst at 4:00 p.m. at the RMU Island Sports Center on Friday, March 2, 2007.
