Two Colonials Claim MAAC Honors

Erin McKenzie and Chloe McIlwaine were both recipients of MAAC weekly awards

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University field hockey team were the recipients of two MAAC weekly awards after a weekend which saw the Colonials split two games.

Junior goalkeeper Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) won her second-straight MAAC Defensive Player of the Week award after extending her personal shutout streak to 325:42. Saturday's 1-0 win over Missouri State gave McKenzie her fourth consecutive clean sheet, and then the junior held Indiana scoreless for 26:30 before allowing her first points since the season-opener against Central Michigan.

After registering two goals over the weekend, freshman Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) was honored with her first ever MAAC Rookie of the Week award. McIlwaine's blast in the 53rd minute was the decider in the Colonials' 1-0 against the Bears. She tallied her second goal of the weekend trip in the 41st minute against the Hoosiers.

McKenzie has stopped 21 shots on the year and has played all 420 minutes for RMU. The junior's shutout against Missouri State gave her the sixth shutout of her career.

McIlwaine's third goal in the past three games has pushed her to second on the team in scoring with six points. The freshman currently leads the team in shot percentage, with a mark of .300.

The Colonials return to the Keystone State this weekend; however, they will still be 188 miles away from the friendly confines of Joe Walton Stadium. RMU will travel to Lock Haven, Pa. to face UMass-Lowell on Saturday at noon, and then face the hosts, Lock Haven, at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
