Hackensack, N.J. / Stratis Arena — Forwards Artemis Spanou (Rhodes, Greece / Nea Smyrni) and Jolie Olingende (Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of the Congo / Arizona Western) each picked up double-doubles as the Robert Morris University women's basketball team won its sixth straight game, 67-58, at Fairleigh Dickinson Monday night. The Colonials are now 7-1 in the league and 11-8 overall.

Spanou set a career-high with 23 rebounds while adding 12 points to record her league record 74th career double-double. Olingende had 10 rebounds in the first half and finished with 11 points to record her first double-double as a Colonial.

Anna Niki Stamolamprou (Thessaloniki, Greece / Aristotelio College of Thessaloniki) tacked on 12 points and four assists while senior Kelly Hartwell (Woodbridge, Va. / Gar-Field) chipped in 10 points.

The Colonials post players accounted for 41 points and 42 rebounds as RMU won the battle in the paint, 32-22. RMU also scored 20 second-chance points on 23 offensive boards.

"It's tough to play on the road, especially the second game of a two-day road trip. I'm proud of them and how they battled," said 11th year RMU head coach Sal Buscaglia."They made enough plays to win the game. Jolie and Artemis both had double-doubles and we had contributions from a number of people down the stretch - Randy and Ashley's three-pointers, Kelly Hartwell pulling down rebounds, Cassie played one of her better games and Anna Niki played steady throughout the game. It's going to be real important as we go on the road against this weekend. Travel in this conference, especially for us, is very tiring, but I'm confident we'll handle the challenge.

After FDU's Desiree Crawford hit the opening basket, RMU went on a 12-0 run with Stamolamprou  accounting for eight of those points. The Knights responded with 10 straight, tying the game at a dozen each with 11:04 left in the opening half.

Robert Morris finished the first half on a 16-2 run, holding Fairleigh Dickinson to just one field goal in the final 8:46. The Colonials converted on eight consecutive free throw attempts during their second 12-0 run of the frame. Olingende and Spanou each finished with 10 first half rebounds, leading a dominating 16-8 effort in the paint to give the visiting squad a 30-18 lead at the break.

The Knights did not go away in the second half, instead riding a 22-7 run to take the lead, 44-42 with 8:05 left. The surge lasted just over eight minutes and fed off five RMU turnovers. Spanou responded with a put-back and feed to freshman Cassie Oursler (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) that put RMU back on top for good.

That was the start of a 9-2 run that pushed the Colonials lead back to five points with 4:39 to go. Twice the Knights were able to cut the margin to three points in the final minutes, but Robert Morris scored the last six points of the game to win going away, 67-58.

Desiree Crawford and Amanda Andrades each had 14 points to lead all scorers. Kelsey Cruz tacke on 11 points.

Robert Morris continues a four-game road trip Saturday, Feb. 1, when they travel to Mount St. Mary's for a 5:00 p.m. game at Knott Arena.
