USCHO.com Poll (1/6)
USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine Poll (1/7)
Pittsburgh, Pa. – After sweeping St. Lawrence in non-conference play this past weekend, the
Robert Morris University women's hockey team moved up one spot to No. 9 in both the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) and USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine polls.
Robert Morris was slotted at 10
th in the last four sets of rankings, but finally made its move up to ninth following the series against the Saints. The Colonials received 28 points from USCHO.com and 44 from USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine, surpassing No. 10 Quinnipiac by five and 13 points, respectively. Naturally, RMU's next game is against the Bobcats on Jan. 17-18.
The Colonials cracked the rankings for the first time in school history after winning a College Hockey America (CHA) series at Syracuse with a victory and tie on Nov. 22-23, 2013. Prior to that, RMU spent four consecutive weeks in both polls' 'receiving votes' category.
Ahead of the Colonials in both rankings is No. 8 Boston University, who RMU split a series with on Oct. 18-19, 2013. The Colonials are 13 points away from the Terriers in the USCHO.com Poll and 11 behind them in the USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine rankings.
At 18-3-1, RMU enters its last bye week of the 2013-14 season trailing No. 1 Minnesota (19-1-0) for the nation's most wins. The Colonials sit just two victories away from breaking a single-season school record in victories, set by the 2011-12 team that won the school's first CHA Championship.
Robert Morris' first game against the Bobcats is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 from the TD Bank Sports Center.
