Robert Morris University softball team will be pulling double duty this weekend as in addition to finishing their fall schedule, the Colonials will be working to help the underprivileged.
RMU will accepting donations this Saturday, October 4, to benefit No Roof Knapsacks, a local charity that seeks to help the homeless in the Pittsburgh area.
The Colonials will accept donations at the Homecoming football game, from 12:30 until 3:00, and will have a table on the plaza right outside Joe Walton Stadium. Robert Morris will collect monetary donations, via all major credit cards, check or cash, but will also be taking donations of items for the backpacks themselves. Individuals that give at least $5.00 will get a carabiner while those that donate at least $20.00 will receive a t-shirt.
No Roof Knapsacks was started in the summer of 2014 with the purpose of providing the homeless with the basic necessities of life in a respectful and dignified manner. The organization aims to provide food, water, toiletries, clothing and other basic needs in a backpack to the local homeless throughout western Pennsylvania.
