Emmitsburg, Md. / Knott Arena —The Robert Morris University women's basketball team took advantage of 29 trips to the foul line en route to its seventh consecutive win, 67-60, at Mount St. Mary's Knott Arena Saturday evening. The Colonials continue to hold on to first place in the Northeast Conference with an 8-1 league mark and 12-8 overall record. The Mountaineers move to 10-11 overall and 5-4 in the NEC.

The Colonials went 22-of-29 from the charity stripe while the Mount converted on just 11 of its 22 tries. Freshman forward Cassie Oursler (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) led the effort at the stripe by going 12-of-14. She finished with a season-best 16 points. Senior forward Artemis Spanou (Rhodes, Greece / Nea Smyrni) recorded her 75th career double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. She tacked on seven assists and three steals.

"I'm very proud of the team. There were so many players that made key plays down the stretch," said 11th year RMU head coach Sal Buscaglia. "I thought they were focused from the opening tip to the end. Its hard to single out one person, but I though Lou Mataly shot the ball so well in the first half to help us build a lead and Cassie Oursler played very well as well as converting from the free throw line. This is the type of energy and focus we need to take us where we want to go."

Robert Morris jumped out to 10-2 lead as freshman Anna Niki Stamolamprou (Thessaloniki, Greece / Aristotelio College of Thessaloniki) and sophomore Lou Mataly (Toulouse, France / Lycee-Bellevue) each buried three-pointers. The Mount, behind Jenn Carney and Jessie Kaufman treys, tied the game at 10-10 with 12:20 left in the first half.

Tied at 12-12, the Colonials would go on a 16-4 run, feeding off five Mount St. Mary's turnovers to take a 28-16 lead with 4:33 to play in the first half. A nice feed from Spanou to redshirt-junior Jolie Olingende (Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of the Congo / Arizona Western) gave RMU its biggest lead, 32-18, but the Mount scored twice in the final 27 seconds of the half to make it a 32-22 ballgame at the break.

Robert Morris stretched its lead to a game-high 19 points midway through the second half with a 7-0 run. Oursler accounted for all seven points, five at the charity stripe and capped off by a lay-in off an assist by freshman guard Janee Brown (Mitchelville, Md. / Holy Cross).

The Mountaineers reacted with a 14-4 run, taking advantage of four Colonials turnovers to trim the lead to nine points. Another short surge, this one 6-1, cut the lead to just five points, 60-55, with 2:31 to play. The team's traded baskets, but a three by Kaufman pulled the Mount to within four points and 55 seconds left.

Stamolamprou hit a free throw, then Spanou came up with a steal at the top of the key and raced for a breakaway lay-up that iced the game, 67-60.

Sydney Henderson had 25 points for the Mount to lead all scorers. Jessie Kaufman tacked on 11 fueled by a trio of treys.

The Colonials wrap-up a four-game NEC road trip with a 7:00 p.m. at Wagner, Monday, Feb. 3.
