Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's tennis team continued a four-match homestand to open its 2014 spring season Friday with a 5-2 loss to IPFW.
RMU slips to 0-4 on the 2013-14 campaign with the setback, while the Mastodons improved to 6-4.
The Colonials picked up wins in singles action at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights, as freshman
Bruno Russo (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Bio Xii) and sophomore
Juan Andres Hirmas (Santiago, Chile / Monte Tabor) were each victorious in three sets.
Russo knocked off Martin Maudi at No. 4 in three sets, 2-6, 6-1 and 11-9, while Hirmas posted a 3-6, 6-4 and 6-3 victory over Karl Wagentsten-Oye at No. 5.
Robert Morris concludes its four-match homestand Friday, Feb. 28, with a Noon match against Youngstown State.
