Robert Morris University men's tennis team continued a four-match homestand to open its 2014 spring campaign with a 5-2 loss to Niagara.
RMU earned the doubles point and also earned a singles victory at the No. 6 flight as sophomore
Juan Andres Hirmas (Santiago, Chile / Monte Tabor) posted a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 win over Mathieu Lacasse to improve to 4-5 overall in singles action this season.
Hirmas also teamed up with sophomore
Matheus Neves Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Collegio Mackenzie) to claim a win in doubles action at the No. 3 flight with a 6-3 victory over Lacasse and Lorenz Schwojer.
At the No. 1 doubles flight, freshman
Bruno Russo (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Bio Xii) and senior
Angus Thomson (Brisbane, Australia / Brisbane Grammar School) combined to earn a 6-5 (7-4) win over David Raymond and Olivier Dufour-Coursol.
Robert Morris closes out its homestand Friday, Feb. 21, with a Noon match against Youngstown State.
