The Capsule
The Robert Morris University women's basketball team looks to avenge an earlier season loss when it hosts the Sacred Heart Pioneers in a 7:00 p.m. game on ESPN3 at the Charles L. Sewall Center Monday, Feb. 10. The Colonials sit first in the NEC standings following a 101-95 double-overtime win against St. Francis Brooklyn. The Pioneers have lost two straight and sit in a three-way tie for third.
 
The Series vs. Sacred Heart
The Colonials have lost seven straight against the Pioneers and trail the all-time series, 7-20. RMU is 4-8 at home against SHU. The Pioneers won this season's first meeting, 71-57.
 
Spanou's Next Record - RMU Free Throws Mark
Having already set career records for points, rebounds, field goals, field goal attempts and free throws, next up in the record-breaking career of senior forward Artemis Spanou is the Colonials career record for free throws attempted. Spanou is currently second with 618 attempted from the chalk. The record is 630 set by Stacey Ritter who played from 1995-97. Spanou has set two NEC and five RMU career records along with three RMU game records so far this season.
 
One Game, Three Records
Senior forward Artemis Spanou set three game records in the Colonials 101-95 double-overtime victory against St. Francis Brooklyn Saturday. She set team marks for points (39), free throws made (19) and free throws attempted (23). Spanou went 10-of-17 from the floor and had nine rebounds and five assists.
 
Musket Shots
  • RMU is 105-30 (.778) at the Sewall Center since 2004-05, including 70-15 (.824) in NEC games
  • The Colonials scored 101 points vs. St. Francis Brooklyn, their most since a team-record 106 points vs. FDU (2.23.02)
  • Freshman Anna Niki Stamolamprou had a season-high 20 points against St. Francis Brooklyn
  • The Colonials recorded a season-high 12 steals at Mount St. Mary's, resulting in 20 points off 21 forced turnovers

Anna Niki Hits 20
Freshman guard Anna Niki Stamolamprou tallied a season-high 20 points against St. Francis Brooklyn. She was 7-of-17 from the field with two three-pointers. Stamolamprou went 4-of-7 from the charity stripe and had five assists.
 
Hitting the Century Mark
Robert Morris reached the 100-point plateau for the just the third time in team history beating St. Francis Brooklyn 101-95 in double-overtime Saturday. RMU had 100 against Ohio University in 1997. The team-record for points was in a 106-99 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 23, 2002.
 
Owning the Paint
Robert Morris ruled the paint against St. Francis Brooklyn, outscoring the Terriers 48-20 on the interior. For the season, RMU is averaging 29.9 paint points compared to 24.2 for its opponents.
 
Brown's Floater Was "Tyus Edney-Like"
Janee Brown went the length of the floor in 4.1 seconds to tie St. Francis Brooklyn at the end of the first overtime. Tyus Edney (UCLA) needed 4.8 seconds to cover the same distance to beat Missouri in the NCAA Tourney in 1995.
 
Oursler Outdoes Herself
Freshman forward Cassie Oursler tallied season-highs for points in back-to-back games last weekend. She went 12-of-14 from the charity stripe to score 16 at Mount St. Mary's. Two days later, she scored 17 points and ripped down 11 rebounds, both career highs, in recording her second double-double of the season.
 
Stacking Wins
The Colonials seven-game win streak ended at Wagner, but it was the team's longest since the 2009-10 squad had 13 consecutive in the W-column.The 2007-08 team owns the record with 17 in a row.
 
Chuck's Charms
The Charles L. Sewall Center, a.k.a. "The Chuck", has lent a certain advantage for the Colonials over the past 10 seasons. Since 2004-05, RobertMorris is 105-30 (.778) in home games, including an even more impressive 70-15 (.823) record against Northeast Conference opponents.
 
Chalk Talk
Robert Morris went 16-for-17 (.941) from the free throw line against Saint Francis, the second-best free throw shooting performance in team history. Artemis Spanou led the way by going 9-9. Anna Niki Stamolamprou and Kelly Hartwell were each 2-2 and Janee Brown was 3-4. The record is 17-17 against Central Conn. State on Feb. 22, 1999.
 
Dimming the Flash
Robert Morris held Saint Francis to just 69 points Saturday, nearly 30 points less than what the Red Flash were averaging in conference games. Saint Francis was averaging 97.8 points, including two 100-point games, against NEC teams coming in to the weekend.
 
Rebounding Review
Robert Morris collected 60 rebounds and outrebounded Fairleigh Dickinson by 31 boards in the first meeting between the teams this seaosn. The rebounding total is the third highest in RMU team history. The Colonials corralled 29 offensive caroms, equalling the total number of rebounds by the Knights. Robert Morris has outrebounded its opponent in 16 of 20 games this season.
 
Dialing Long Distance ... From Europe
The Colonials European born players have accounted for 128 of the team's 133 three-pointers this season. Anna Niki Stamolamprou has knocked down 37 and Ashley Ravelli has hit 36. Rebecca Navarro has 20.
 
Taking Care of the Ball
Robert Morris committed just six turnovers against Sacred Heart, tied for the second fewest in team history. The record is three in a game at Pitt (2.14.1987). The last time RMU had just six turnovers in a game was at Wagner (1.21.2006).
 
Biggest Comeback Under Buscaglia
The Colonials overcame a 21-point second half deficit against Central Connecticut State Saturday to win, 61-59. It was the biggest deficit overcome by the team under 11th year head coach Sal Buscaglia. Previously, RMU climbed out of a 14-point hole against Miami (Ohio) to win 90-89 in the 2006-07 season opener (Nov. 12, 2006).
 
Tracking "Offensive Flow"
The new officiating guidelines designed to create more "offensive flow" have resulted in nearly 11 more whistles per game this season compared to last season. Through 22 games, there have been an average of 40.8 fouls and 45.0 free throws per game. The Colonials games in 2012-13 averaged 29.9 fouls and 30.8 free throws per game.
 
Insurmountable Lead
Robert Morris has never lost a game in which it has held the lead at the end of the second half. The Colonials are 13-0 in such situations this season. All-time, RMU is 470-0 when leading at the end of the second half.
 
Preseason Prizewinner
With the NEC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year returning, the RMU women's basketball team is the favorite in the 2013-14 NEC Preseason Women's Basketball Coaches Poll. The Colonials received five of a possible nine first-place votes and are the favorite for the first time since the 2008-09 season and third time overall.
 
Ravelli Rookie of the Year
Sophomore Ashley Ravelli was named the 2012-13 NEC Rookie of the Year. Ravelli finished fourth in the league with 70 three pointers last season while averaging nearly 11 points per game.
 
Perennial Playoff Potential
Robert Morris missed the playoffs for the first time since 2004-05 last season, falling shy by one game. RMU had eight consecutive playoff appearances from 2004-05 through 2011-12. RMU finished first in three of those seasons, earning the tournament's top seed in 2010.
 
International Love
The Robert Morris roster once again features members from all over the world. On a team of 12 players, seven hail from outside the borders of the United States while five call America home. Of the five Americans, all come from different states with Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, California and Virginia represented. Two players hail from Greece, two from Spain, and one each from France, Italy and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
