Boston, Mass. – Six members of the Robert Morris University men's indoor track & field team competed at the IC4A Championships this weekend at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.

Redshirt senior Steve Mitchell (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) competed in both the shot put and weight throw. He tallied a toss of 16.27 meters in the shot, the ninth-best throw in school history, to take 11th place while his fling of 17.48 meters in the weight throw put him in 17th.

Senior Fred Thompson (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Woodland Hills) stopped the clock in 1:04.27 in the 500-meter run. He placed 11th in the preliminaries and was an agonizing three one-thousands of a second away from qualifying for the final in the event. Nevertheless, the time was a new personal best for Thompson and stands as the fifth-fastest time in RMU history.

Junior Malcolm Ayers (Clarksburg, Md. / Clarksburg) and senior Abraham Roy (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) both competed in the 200-meter dash for Robert Morris. Ayers was 30th in 22.23 seconds while Roy was right behind him in 31st in 22.24 seconds.

Senior Nicolas Gentile (Sarver, Pa. / Freeport) placed 36th in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:56.91.

Junior Richard Njenga (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata) competed in the triple jump but did not register a distance.

The IC4A Championships conclude the indoor season for Robert Morris. However, RMU will commence the outdoor season in under two weeks as it competes in the Wake Forest Open March 21-22.
