Daytona Beach, Fla. / LPGA International – The
Robert Morris University men's golf team finished fourth at the 2014 Northeast Conference Championships Sunday at the LPGA International Champions Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. Robert Morris shot a 299 in round two, the second lowest score of the day and third lowest one round score of the tournament.
Bryant University carded at a 592 two-day total to win the team title, beating second place Fairleigh Dickinson by eight strokes. Central Connecticut State was third (606) followed by Robert Morris (608), LIU Brooklyn (616), Saint Francis U (617), Sacred Heart (618), Wagner (623) and St. Francis Brooklyn (675).
Matt Gurska led to Robert Morris contingent tying for fifth overall. After a one-over par 73 in the first round, the sophomore carded a two-over par 74 in round two. Gurska had three birdies Sunday after picking up four in the opening round.
Garrett Browning picked up eight strokes in the second round firing an even-par 72. He was two-under 15 holes, carding three birdies in the second round. His 152 total placed him in a tie for 14
th.
Santiago Mejia finished tied for 17
th after a 78 Sunday and 75 Saturday gave him a 153.
Ryan Prokay carded a 75 Sunday, recovering six strokes for his opening round 81. With a total of 156, he finished 22
nd.
Dan Maier rounded out the RMU contingent of linksters. He tied for 29
th with scores of 81 and 78 for a 159 total.
