Moon Township, Pa. –
Robert Morris University men's lacrosse head coach
Andrew McMinn announced the hiring of two staff members this afternoon.
McMinn named
Robert Marasti as an assistant coach and announced the return of
Carlo Sunseri as a volunteer assistant coach.
Marasti spent the past three years as the president of the Pittsburgh Low and Away Lacrosse Club, and doubled as the varsity head coach at Pine Richland (Pa.) High School last season. Under his direction, the Rams finished the 2014 campaign with a record of 10-5 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) playoffs.
Prior to that, Marasti was an assistant coach with Seneca Valley (Pa.) High School for the 2013 season, and spent the previous year with Peters Township (Pa.) High School as its Director of Youth Coaches and eighth grade head coach.
Marasti played four seasons with Robert Morris from 2008 to 2011, tallying 24 points in 60 games. He was a very versatile player for the Colonials, as he started his career as an attackman before moving to defensive midfield his junior season. In his senior campaign, RMU finished 9-6 and made the first Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament of its history.
A native of Pittsburgh, Marasti graduated from Robert Morris in 2011 with his Bachelor's degree in education.
Sunseri returns to the program for his third stint, previously having assisted on the Colonials' bench in 2008-09 and 2012-13.
RMU went 19-11 in his most recent spell, winning the program's first NEC regular-season title along with its first postseason game. In his first stint with the Colonials, the team earned its first winning season in school history courtesy of a five-win improvement from the prior season.
A Robert Morris alumnus, Sunseri served as a captain for three seasons during the program's infancy. He was the recipient of the Colonials' Iron Man award in each of his three seasons, and finished his career with 59 points on 35 goals and 24 assists. Sunseri was named as the team's most valuable player in his senior season after tallying 19 goals, seven assists, and 12 groundballs.
Sunseri earned his bachelor's degree from Robert Morris in sport management in 2007.
