Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The Atlantic Hockey Association has named Robert Morris University senior
Terry Shafer the Travel Team USA Goalie of the Week.
The honor for Shafer comes after a record-tying shutout in the Colonials 4-0 win over RIT last Friday. Shafer clinched his fifth career shutout with 37 saves, tying the program career shutout record held byÂ
Dalton Izyk and Eric Levine. Shafer's shutout marks the first time Robert Morris has ever shut out RIT at home, as RMU's only previous shutout against the Tigers was February 8, 2013 in Pittsburgh with Levine in net. The Penfield, NY native stopped 19 shots in the first period, weathering 18 the rest of the way.
Perfect marks of 1.000 save percentage and 0.00 goals against average at RIT run Shafer's season numbers to second in the conference in save percentage (.923) and third in GAA (2.57). Along with tying the Robert Morris record with five career shutouts, Shafer also now sits tied for second in RMU history in goals against average (2.73) with Brooks Ostergard.
The Colonials are back in action this Saturday against Canisius at 84 Lumber Arena in Pittsburgh at 7:05 pm., before traveling to face the Griffins at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, NY at 7:35 pm Sunday. For tickets to all home games, visit
