Yasmyne Salhia Signs NLI With Colonials

Moon Township, Pa. – Robert Morris University women's basketball head coach Sal Buscaglia announced the signing of Yasmyne Salhia to a National Letter of Intent. Salhia is third member of this year's recruiting class joining Nia Adams and Caitlin Roche who both signed with the Colonials this past November.

"Mina is the type of player that can see the floor very well and knows what to do when getting into the lane.  She has a great ability to create offense off the dribble and not only score, but set up her teammates," said RMU associate head coach Charlie Buscaglia. "Mina has showed us a great toughness throughout her high school, club, and AAU career, which proved to us that she will be a hard-nosed competitor at the Division I level. We are extremely happy to have come together with such a quality student-athlete."

Salhia is a 5'8" guard from Toronto, Ontario, and attends Bill Crothers Secondary School where she has been an on the Academic Honor Roll each year since 2012. She plays her club basketball with the North Toronto JUEL travel team, the same program that produced Megan Smith who was a Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team selection last season. Salhia ranks eighth in the JUEL League averaging 3.1 assists and is 18th in free throw percentage at 71.0 percent as of the most recent league statistics.

Salhia was a member of Team Ontario Under-15 Provincial team in both 2011 and 2012, helping her squad to a national championship in that first season. She was named the Barrie Royals Club team MVP in both 2010 and 2011, accolades which surely played into her selection to Team Ontario. Salhia earned spots on the GTA All-Star Team in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Robert Morris is coming off an appearance in its second consecutive NEC Championship game and finished the season at 17-15 overall and 13-5 in the league. It was the team's fourth championship appearance since 2006-07.
