Moon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University rowing team opened its 2016-17 campaign Saturday by taking part in the Head of the Ohio in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Highlighting the performance for the Colonials was the Varsity 8, which placed second out of 10 boats. RMU posted a time of 14:29.790, trailing only Pittsburgh (13:58.790). Rounding out the top five in the race was Cincinnati (14:45.500), Virginia Commonwealth (14:57.210) and Three Rivers Rowing (15:08.160).
Freshman
Kestra Harris served as the coxswain of the Robert Morris Varsity 8, and she was joined in the boat by seniors

"We're very pleased with the results from the Head of the Ohio this weekend," head coach
Nelle Stahura said. "Aside from bringing home some hardware, I am so happy with the way that our student-athletes felt about their races. Each of the boats came off the water excited and happy. I think we caught a glimpse of what is to come for our program down the road, and we're looking forward to putting in the work in order to get there."
The Robert Morris Varsity 8 B boat placed eighth out of 10, finishing with a time of 15:27.670. Sophomore

In Open 4 action, the Colonials had a trio of boats compete, finishing sixth, seventh and 12th out of 16 boats.
The RMU Varsity 4 saw Harris again serve as the coxswain, and she was joined in the boat by Goodman, Childers, Engle-Young and Sahr. The boat posted a time of 16:20.280 to earn sixth.
Right behind the Varsity 4 was the Robert Morris Varsity 4 B boat, which crossed the finish line in 16:22.850 to claim seventh. Heastings served as the coxswain in a boat that featured Gossel, Daman, Faye and Carrol.
Sophomore
Kylee Reyes sat in the coxswain seat for the RMU Varsity 4 C boat, which posted a time of 16:52.340 to finish 12th. Also in the boat for the Colonials was Levenson, Asaro, Feltz and Johnson.
