Moon Township, Pa. Erin Ritzer, a senior midfielder on the Robert Morris University women's soccer team, was named to the 2016 Academic All-District 2 Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced by the organization in a release this afternoon.

An engineering major from Scenery Hill, Pa., Ritzer is the program's first CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree since 2011 when Leah Prentice garnered the plaudits. Ritzer carries a 3.90 grade point average and has been named to a trio of Northeast Conference (NEC) Academic and Commissioner's Honor Rolls for her excellence in the classroom.

Ritzer has started all 16 games in her senior campaign, playing a total of 1,189 minutes. The team's leading scorer (5g, 3a) a season ago, she tallied the game's lone goal in the 76th minute of a 1-0 victory at Fairleigh Dickinson last Friday, helping keep the Colonials' NEC Tournament hopes alive.

After missing her freshman season due to injury, Ritzer has been a mainstay in the RMU midfield, totaling 55 games over the past three seasons. She was a part of the Starting XI on 12 occasions last year and saw 1,026 minutes of action as the Colonials advanced to their first league tournament and subsequent championship game.

Ritzer, who joins Taryn Reichard (2006, 2007), Christy Baldesberger (2009, 2010), and Prentice as Academic All-District recipients, will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
