Colonials Host Orange to Cap Four-Game Home Stand

Both squads are undefeated in CHA play entering the two-game series

Pittsburgh, Pa. Two squads undefeated after the opening weekend of College Hockey America action will face off in 84 Lumber Arena this weekend, when the Robert Morris University women's hockey team hosts Syracuse on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3:05 p.m.
 
Robert Morris (6-1-3, 2-0-0) looks to remain undefeated at home following a weekend sweep of Mercyhurst, while Syracuse (2-4-2, 2-0-0) also hopes to continue its winning ways, as the Orange swept Lindenwood in their first two games of league play.
 
The Colonials have not kicked off a conference season with two wins since 2013-14.

Robert Morris is 10-14-8 all-time versus Syracuse, and 6-9-5 against the Orange under head coach Paul Colontino.
 
 
Key Notes
The Colonials aren't the only team who had success in their opening weekend of CHA action. Syracuse also enters the series following a CHA-opening sweep (a pair of 4-0 shutout victories over Lindenwood). Penn State is also 2-0-0 in conference play after the Nittany Lions earned four points against RIT.
 
Top-line trio Amber Rennie, Brittany Howard and Jaycee Gebhard have combined for 39 points through 10 games. They are currently the second-most productive forward line in NCAA Division I women's hockey.
 
Syracuse returns veteran forwards Alysha Burriss, Stephanie Grossi, and Jessica Sibley, who have recorded a collective six goals and 10 assists to lead the Orange.
 
RMU is averaging 7.90 points per game to Syracuse's 4.88.
 
Top Talent
RMU leads the country in faceoff wins (313), and ranks second in the nation in power-play goals (11) and power-play points (32), tied for seventh in assists (51), eighth in points (79), tied for 10th in goals (28), and sixth in power-play percentage (.193).
 
CHA Nod
For the first time in her career, freshman Aneta Ledlova was named CHA Rookie of the Week. Fellow freshman Jaycee Gebhard was named CHA Rookie of the Month for October. RMU is 4-1-2 when Gebhard records a point, and 3-0-1 when she scores a goal.
 
Getting It Done
Sophomore defenseman Maggie LaGue leads the nation in power-play assists (six) and power-play points (seven), and ranks second in blocked shots (32). Junior defenseman Katherine Murphy fills the No. 3 spot with 30 blocked shots.
 
Trending
Sophomore defenseman Kirsten Welsh has scored a goal in five of the last seven games, including a team-leading two game-winning tallies. Redshirt junior Brittany Howard has posted a point in eight of 10 games on the young season, including five of the Colonials' last six. Freshman Jaycee Gebhard, and sophomores Maggie LaGue and Amber Rennie have posted a point for RMU in all but three outings.
 
Milestone Watch
Head coach Paul Colontino is eight wins away from his 100th career victory as head coach of the Robert Morris University women's hockey team.
