RMU Returns to CHA Action with Penn State

Colonials look to extend lead in CHA standings over Nittany Lions

Pittsburgh, Pa. The Robert Morris University women's hockey team looks to carry momentum from the Windjammer Classic into its return to College Hockey America (CHA) action in a two-game series at Penn State on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at noon.
 
RMU (10-1-5, 5-0-1) looks to extend its current two-point lead over PSU (5-8-3, 4-1-1) in the CHA standings. The Colonials are coming off a win over St. Cloud State and a tie with the No. 5 nationally-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights at the Windjammer Classic. The Nittany Lions enter the conference series following two, shutout losses to No. 3 St. Lawrence.
 
RMU is riding a nine-game unbeaten streak heading into this weekend's CHA clash.

Robert Morris is 11-3-2 all-time against Penn State, however, the Nittany Lions have either won or tied the last four meetings between the two teams.

Sophomore defenseman Kirsten Welsh leads all defensemen nationally in scoring (eight) and is tied for 11th in points per game among defensemen (0.69).

RMU ranks third in the nation in power-play goals (19) and power-play points (55), fifth in faceoff wins (491), tenth in assists (84), and tenth in points (133).
 
CHA Nod
Redshirt junior forward Brittany Howard was named CHA Player of the Month, and freshman forward Jaycee Gebhard was named CHA Rookie of the Month for the second-straight occasion for the month of November.
 
Getting It Done
Sophomore defenseman Maggie LaGue is tied for fourth in the nation in blocked shots (46). Junior defenseman Katherine Murphy fills the No. 6 spot with 41 blocked shots. LaGue is tied for first in the nation in power-play assists (eight) and tied for third in power-play points (10).

Sophomore defenseman Kirsten Welsh has recorded a point in seven of the last 10 games. Redshirt junior Brittany Howard has posted a point in 14 of 16 games on the season, including the Colonials' last six.
