Moon Township, Pa. - The
Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team is partnering with crosstown rival Duquesne University for a collegiate playday and canned food drive on Sunday, October 2. The event is free to attend, but fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the food drive, supporting the West Hills Food Pantry.
Eleven college women's lacrosse teams will participate in the playday, participating in at least three games throughout the day, with the first games beginning at 8:00am and the final games starting at 4:00pm. Both the turf field at Joe Walton Stadium and the grass soccer field at the North Athletic Complex will be used with simultaneous games happening throughout the day.
Robert Morris will play four games, beginning with a 9:00am contest vs. Mercyhurst on the grass field. The Colonials will play the remaining three games on the turf field at Joe Walton Stadium, against Bucknell (12:00pm), Saint Bonaventure (2:00pm) and Liberty (4:00pm).
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees at Robert Morris and Duquesne are competing in a canned food drive. As fans arrive at Joe Walton Stadium, there will be bins marked "Colonials" and "Dukes" so fans can choose which team to support with their donations. The final totals will be announced at the Robert Morris vs. Duquesne football game on October 15 at Duquesne's Rooney Field in Pittsburgh.
Several fan events will take place during the 11:00am Duquesne vs. Liberty game and the 12:00pm RMU vs. Bucknell game, including a t-shirt giveaway and halftime competitions.
