Somerset, N.J. – Anna Niki Stamolamprou, a senior on the Robert Morris University women's basketball team, was recognized by the Northeast Conference (NEC) as a 2016-17 Scholar-Athlete Award recipient. This is the second consecutive season that Stamolamprou has garnered the accolade.
To be eligible for the NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a sport, a student-athlete must have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours at their institution, maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 and participated with distinction as a member of a varsity team.
A native of Thessaloniki, Greece, Stamolamprou carries a 3.75 grade point average while majoring in economics.
Stamolamprou closed her illustrious career by winning NEC Player of the Year and helping guide Robert Morris to its third NEC championship in four seasons and seventh overall. She also collected her second straight NEC Tournament MVP as the Colonials advanced to their fifth NCAA Tournament in program history. In her final season donning the blue and white, Stamolamprou averaged 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per contest, ranking in the top 20 of the NEC in each of those categories.
The senior guard finished her career in the top three at RMU in career points (1,815, 2nd), three-pointers made (283, 1st), and assists (373, 3rd). She is one of two players in program history to register 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists, and 100 steals in their career. On Jan. 9 against LIU Brooklyn, Stamolamprou tied the single-game program records for points (39) and field goals made (15).
In addition to Stamolamprou's honor, a total of 33 student-athletes from Robert Morris covering three NEC winter sports were named to the 2016-17 NEC Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the honor roll, student-athletes must have posted a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and be an active member of an officially recognized varsity team. Freshmen are eligible for the honor roll.
Of the 33 recognized student-athletes, nine gained recognition on the NEC Winter Commissioner's Honor Roll. To be eligible for the commissioner's honor roll, student-athletes must have posted a cumulative GPA of 3.75. Freshmen also are eligible for this designation.

Robert Morris finished the season with a 22-11 overall record, its 10th 20-win season in program history.
