Moon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University rowing team had its final competition before the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships Sunday by competing in the MACRA Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Colonials finished with 11 points, ahead of Case Western (10), Marquette (7), DePaul (5), Chicago (5) and Charleston (0). Michigan won the Lindamood Team Points Trophy with 41 points.

Highlighting the competition for the Colonials was the Second Varsity 8, which earned bronze in the Grand Final to secure six points. The boat finished with a time of 7:26.8, trailing only Eastern Michigan (7:07.7) and Drake (7:24.7). It marked the second consecutive competition the second Varsity 8 earned bronze.

In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Robert Morris garnered fifth with a time of 7:33.9, earning five points. The boat was made up of freshman

"We've made a lot of great progress over the past few weeks and it's exciting to see it starting to pay off," head coach
Nelle Stahura said. "All of our boats are beginning to come together and that momentum will surely help us as we prepare for the MAAC Championships."
In the Varsity 4, the Colonials earned silver in the C Final with a time of 9:05.2, trailing only Chicago. Making up the boat was freshman

In novice action, Robert Morris won the Petite Final courtesy of a time of 8:50.7. The Colonials defeated both Cincinnati (8:54.5) and Marquette (10:00.4). The boat consisted of Bell as the coxswain, rookies

The Colonials now gear up for the 2017 MAAC Championships, which take place Friday, May 12, at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J.
