RMU Women's Rowing Set to Compete in The Knecht Cup Regatta Over the Weekend

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's rowing team is set to compete in the Knecht Cup Regatta in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, on Saturday and Sunday.

ABOUT THE KNECHT CUP
The Knecht Cup Regatta began in 1999 and welcomes colleges and universities from all over the country to compete on the Cooper River, where William J. (Bill) Knecht established the rowing course that has become one of the most sought-after rowing courses in the US. Over 80 collegiate-level rowing programs compete during the weekend of competition, including 40 events named after legends in the rowing community.

RMU LATELY
The Colonials competed in a scrimmage against Duquesne at Lake Arthur last Friday to better prepare for the season. Head coach Robert Weber was excited with the way things went, stating, "Our time on the water has been very limited the past two weeks due to weather and river conditions, so we wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to line up next to someone, which I think we did. We tested several combinations, which yielded valuable information, and I think our best Varsity 8 lineup competed very well against Duquesne's top crews. With such a young crew, it's an encouraging indication for the rest of the season!"

QUOTABLES – Head coach Robert Webber
"This is the first time we've attended the Knecht Cup, so we're looking forward to it. It will be the toughest and deepest field we will race against all year, and one of the only chances we'll get to race against some of our conference competitors. It will be a real test for us and a real development opportunity for the program."
