Robert Morris Receives NCAA Public Recognition Award

Colonials add academic accolades to impressive 2016-17 season

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's hockey team earned the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Public Recognition Award, announced the NCAA and the Division I Committee on Academics Tuesday morning.

This honor is bestowed on teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports in the 2015-16 academic year. The complete list of all those recognized may be found on ncaa.org.

This marks the first time the Colonials women's hockey team has earned this award from the NCAA, which adds to the impressive accolades of those student-athletes who were part of both the 2015-16 roster, and the 2016-17 squad that claimed the College Hockey America Championship and regular-season title, as well as advanced to the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament.
