Star forwardÂ
Brittany Howard, the reigning CHA scoring champion, continues to lead the conference with her 18 goals and 30 points during this unprecedented period of national attention for the women's program at Robert Morris. Already RMU's all-time points leader with 162 (72 G, 90 A), the second-most career points of any active NCAA player, she needs only two more goals to become the program's career goal-scoring queen.
In addition, Howard was named the 2017 Pittsburgh Sportswoman of the Year by Dapper Dan Charities. On Feb. 21 she will become the first student-athlete in Robert Morris history to receive the prestigious civic award.
Her frequent linemates,Â
Jaycee Gebhard andÂ
Amber Rennie, have also enjoyed fine seasons. Gebhard extended her CHA assist lead with her 17th helper of the year at No. 7 Ohio State last weekend, and Rennie, with 65 career points, has moved into a three-way tie with Cobina Delaney and current teammateÂ
Kirsten Welsh for tenth all-time at Robert Morris.
On the back end, the Colonials are led by Welsh, the program's career points leader among defenders with 23 goals and 42 assists, as well asÂ
Maggie LaGue, whose 51 career assists remain the most all-time by any Colonials blue-liner. RMU has the sixth-highest scoring D-corps in Division I, with 59 combined points (15 G, 44 A).
Meanwhile, goaltender
Elijah Milne-Price is just one save away from becoming only the sixth Colonials netminder to record 400 as a collegian. She leads CHA with 11 victories and a .694 winning percentage.
Robert Morris (12-6-3, 6-2-2), coming off its first-ever regular season CHA championship and second tournament title, looks to retake the lead in the conference standings when it visits RIT this weekend. Opening faceoff at the Gene Polisseni Center in Rochester, New York is set for Friday at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
RMU swept the Tigers Nov. 10-11, 6-1 and 5-2, respectively, at the Island Sports Center in the first series between the teams.
