Ferguson Named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month

Senior forward is the NCAA scoring leader for the month of December

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Robert Morris University men's hockey senior Brady Ferguson is the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month for December, the league announced Wednesday.

Ferguson led both Atlantic Hockey and all of NCAA men's hockey in scoring for the month of December, with five goals and eight assists for 13 points in six games. Four of those goals and six of the assists came at even strength. The senior forward also scored a shorthanded goal and notched a pair of power play assists, playing an important role on both the Colonials power play and penalty kill units.

Ferguson held a plus-seven rating in December, firing 27 shots on goal and blocking eight shots. The senior from Carrollton, Texas also won 82 faceoffs, more than anyone in the league, recording a .536 faceoff percentage.

Ferguson was lauded as Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week and earned the NCAA's first star following a 7-point performance in a weekend sweep of Mercyhurst on December 16-17.

During December, Ferguson climbed into third place all-time in scoring in RMU history, now with 145 career points, trailing only Cody Wydo '15 (2nd, 150 points), and Zac Lynch '16 (1st, 156 points). The NCAA's active career points leader is fifth all-time in goals at RMU with 59 goals and third in assists with 86 helpers, averaging 1.10 points per game for his career.

A Texas native and Senior CLASS Award nominee, Ferguson continues to build on his already impressive NCAA career, as the active career leader in points (145), goals (59) and assists (86), and is second in both power play (23) and shorthanded goals (7).

With 27 points this season, Ferguson is tied for second most points in the NCAA, and tied for the Atlantic Hockey scoring lead with Canisius' Dylan McLaughlin and is scoring at a 1.29 points per game pace. The senior has won 300 faceoffs this season, which leads the NCAA, and holds a .544 faceoff win percentage.

The Colonials are off this weekend, but return to Atlantic Hockey action at Niagara University on Tuesday, January 9 at 7:05pm. Robert Morris (8-12-1, 7-7-1 AHC) is in fourth place in the conference standings, with 15 points, just two back of the third place Purple Eagles.
