RMU is one of two remaining undefeated teams in conference, along with Keystone State rival Saint Francis U.
NOTES: St. Francis Brooklyn @ Robert Morris (1.8.18)
The Opponent
St. Francis Brooklyn is still searching for its first NEC win after dropping games to LIU Brooklyn and Saint Francis U to open conference play. The Terriers have been one of the best teams in the nation from beyond the arc, as they're currently ranked 13th in three-point field goal percentage (.390). Sophomore guard Jade Johnson leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent (38-84) from distance. Â
Robert Morris owns a 42-20 edge over St. Francis Brooklyn in the all-time series, but recently it has been more even with RMU winning just five of the last nine meetings. The two teams split last season's matchups, with the Terriers claiming victory in Moon Township, 56-49, on Jan. 7. The Colonials rebounded for a 61-54 victory in Brooklyn on Feb. 4, 2017, thanks to an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double by
Nneka Ezeigbo - the first of her career.
Â
Last Time Out
Robert Morris extended its winning streak to three games on Saturday, Jan. 6 with a 60-53 triumph over LIU Brooklyn at PPG Paints Arena.
Nneka Ezeigbo led the Colonials with 17 points and 13 rebounds, posting her fifth career double-double in the process.
Megan Smith added 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting and pulled down eight caroms.
Â
Lock 'Em Down
Robert Morris has prided itself on defense in its history and this season is no different. A season after establishing a new program record for points per game allowed at 57.5, the Colonials are currently allowing an average of 55.6 points per contest, which ranks tops in the NEC and 20th nationally. RMU also paces the conference in field goal defense (.358), which ranks 38th nationally, and sits in the Top 100 in steals per game (10.4, 48th) and turnovers forced (18.57, 86th).
Â
That's a Lot of Windex
The Colonials pulled down 57 rebounds in their 60-53 win over LIU Brooklyn on Jan. 6, which is tied for the sixth most they've gotten in a single game. It was also the first time RMU had grabbed at least 50 caroms in a game since Nov. 13, 2015 against West Virginia Wesleyan (67, school record).
Â
Three-kematsu
Just 14 games into her career, it's clear that
Honoka Ikematsu is someone you don't want to leave open from beyond the arc. Ikematsu is converting at a 49.2 percent (32-65) rate from deep, and currently owns the fourth highest three-point percentage in the nation.
Â
30 Below
On Jan. 6, LIU Brooklyn became the fourth team this season that the Robert Morris defense has held under 30 percent shooting, as its .263 mark joined Northern Kentucky (.261), Delaware State (.277), and Sacred Heart (.280). RMU has now limited 12 opponents to a field goal percentage below .300 since 2016-17.
Â
The Bench Brings It
RMU's bench has provided no drop-off to the starting five this season, as the reserves are averaging 21.1 points per game and an average of 7.7 points more than the opponents' reserves. The Colonials are 9-1 when their bench outscores the opposing one and are 26-4 since 2016-17 when that happens.
Â
Insurmountable Lead
Robert Morris has never lost a game in which it has held the lead at the end of the second half. The Colonials were 22-0 in such situations during the 2016-17 campaign and 10-0 this season. All-time, RMU is 583-0 when leading at the final whistle.
