Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University soccer programs were represented well on the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 Teams, as seniors Zac Sherman and Samantha Lackner both earned recognition by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced by the organization in a release this afternoon.

Sherman is men's soccer's first CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree since 2010, when Toba Bolaji garnered the plaudits. For Lackner, she supplants former teammate Erin Ritzer (2016) as the most recent Academic All-District selection for women's soccer.

An accounting major from Mechanicsburg, Pa., Sherman carries a 3.75 cumulative grade point average and has been named to three NEC Academic Honor Rolls and the 2015 Commissioner's Honor Roll. In his senior season, Sherman led the Colonials with five goals, four assists, and 14 points in 16 contests. He finished in the top 10 of the NEC in all scoring categories, slotting as high as a tie for fourth in total points. Sherman registered a pair of one-goal, one-assist performances at Longwood and Sacred Heart, while adding a brace against Northern Kentucky on Sept. 2. He also posted back-to-back game-winning tallies against SHU and St. Francis Brooklyn.

A Pittsburgh, Pa. native majoring in Psychology, Lackner carries a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average and has been named to a pair of NEC Academic and Commissioner's Honor Rolls. Lackner started all 18 games at centerback this season, helping the RMU defense post three clean sheets. The West Virginia Wesleyan transfer established a new career high in minutes played with 1,560, and registered an assist at Valparaiso on Sept. 2. For her defensive efforts in a 2-0 victory over Saint Francis U, Lackner was named an NEC Prime Performer.

Sherman finished his career with 30 points (12g, 6a) in 66 contests. He was an All-NEC Rookie Team selection in 2015 after posting five points (2g, 1a), and finished second on the team in goals (3) and tied for third in points (7) last season. In addition to the two game-winning goals this season, he netted the decider against Central Connecticut in 2017 and Fairleigh Dickinson in 2015, giving him four for his career – tied for the eighth most in program history.

Lackner played in 51 games over her three-year career in Moon Township, starting 44 of them and the last 42. She didn't come off the pitch for a single minute as a junior – seeing 1,552 minutes in total – and assisted the Colonial back four in posting 11 shutouts over her three seasons.

Sherman joins Bolaji and Mark Klabnik (2006) as Academic All-District recipients on the men's side, while Lackner puts her name on a list alongside Angela Story (2005), Taryn Reichard (2006, 2007), Christy Baldesberger (2009, 2010), Leah Prentice (2011), and Ritzer. Both will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
