Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team announces that it has received National Letters of Intent from Logan Hess and Alex Seelig.
In 2019-20, Hess (Willow Street, Pa. / Penn Manor) and Seelig (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township) will join a program that finished on the top half of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships leaderboard in 10 consecutive seasons, and won a total of 20 tournaments since the 2009-10 campaign.
Hess is a three-year team captain at Penn Manor High School, earning Section 1 Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star honors in those seasons. He's also a two-time All-LL League All-Star, posting a scoring average of 74 as a junior and senior. Hess owns a pair of top-30 finishes at the PAGA Boys and Girls State Golf Championship – placing as high as 11th overall – and two top-25 efforts at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Open. He placed second at the 2017 Bustard Memorial Invitational and third at the Precision Pro Elite event at Hersey Country Club on the Philly PGA Junior Tour.
Seelig is a two-time Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Assocation (BCIAA) champion, beating current RMU freshman Chase Miller in 2017. He's made a trio of All-County teams and is the only golfer in Exeter Township High School history to qualify for three state championships. As a junior, Seelig placed in the top five at the county, district, regional, and state championships. His brother, Dominic, played golf at McDaniel (Md.) College.
Both Hess and Seelig plan on studying sports management at Robert Morris.
Robert Morris begins its spring season on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the Sunshine State when it competes in the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational. The tournament is hosted by Bethune Cookman and is played at LPGA International, where the NEC Championships are held.
