Moon Township, Pa. – For the fourth straight season, the Robert Morris University men's golf team was bestowed with the Northeast Conference (NEC) Team Sportsmanship Award, joining the men's lacrosse team as RMU programs who have collected the plaudit during this academic year.

Robert Morris finished runner-up at the NEC Championships, its 10th consecutive finish on the top half of the league leaderboard. The Colonials won a tournament for ninth straight campaign, capturing the Titans Motown Collegiate at the conclusion of the fall slate with a three-round total of 888 (+24). RMU's best team tally relative to par came in the Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invitational, when it shot a 16-over 592 to claim bronze at the event.

Max Palmer became the first Colonial sophomore to be named to the All-NEC First Team and added All-Tournament Team accolades at the NEC Championships. Palmer led RMU with a 74.0 stroke average, which ranks fourth all-time in program single-season history. Junior David Szymanski earned medalist honors at the Titans Motown Collegiate by carding an even-par 216 over three rounds, while Grant Schumaker, one of the team's two seniors, posted the second-best stroke average on the team at 76.1.

Instituted by league presidents in 2008, the awards are designed to acknowledge the team in each conference sport that, in the opinion of its peers, most closely demonstrate good sportsmanship based on the NEC Principles of Sportsmanship and Standards of Conduct. Voting is conducted at the conclusion of each season by each team and head coach, who rank teams within the conference based on a set of criteria.
