"We are very proud and excited that Dyllan has been named a nominee for this prestigious award. I couldn't think of a more dedicated person to receive this honor." - Head Coach Derek Schooley
The award, which is celebrating its 26th season, is presented annually to college hockey's finest citizen — a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team but also to the community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism.
Lubbesmsyer has been an active participant on campus and as a member in the surrounding RMU community since arriving in Moon Township as a freshman back in 2018. His involvement and service ranges from the classroom and student organizations at RMU to youth hockey coaching and recruitment as well as work with a number of different veterans organizations both here and in his home state of Minnesota.
Lubbesmsyer was a member of the Colonial Leadership Academy program in each of his sophomore, junior and senior years at RMU, a group that helps to promote and hone leadership skills amongst all student athletes at Robert Morris.
This year he will also participate in a volunteer project under CLA, and has been a member of Phi Beta Sigma's honors society for three years as well.
Other nominees include Kevin Fitzgerald of St. Cloud University, Josh Kosack of Union College, Grace Markey of Quinnipiac University, Andrew Walker and Jacob Adkins of UMass Boston, and Delaney Wolf of St. Mary's University
Finalists for the 2021 Hockey Humanitarian Award will be later this month. The 2021 recipient will be honored on Friday, April 9th during the NCAA Men's Frozen Four weekend in Pittsburgh.
