Urbana, Md. – Playing its first competitive round in 376 days, the Robert Morris University men's golf team carded a 14-over 302 over the opening 18 holes of the Carpetbagger Classic, which places the Colonials third out of 10 teams and three strokes off the lead.
THE LEADERBOARD
RMU trails Bucknell (299, +11) and Fairleigh Dickinson (301, +13) on the team leaderboard, and checks in ahead of Mount St. Mary's (305, +17), Binghamton (308, +20), Bryant (309, +21), Mount St. Mary's B (310, +22), Towson (312, +24), Iona (312, +24), and Lafayette (315, +27).
THE TEAM
The Colonials brought six players to the Old Line State and redshirt sophomore Chris Sabol topped them all with a career-best 73 (+1), which ties him for second and is one off the individual lead of Bucknell's Jack Gardner (72, E). Junior Chase Miller came in a stroke behind Sabol at 74 (+2), good for sole possession of seventh. Graduate student Kyle Grube shares 13th place with 10 others after carding a 76 (+3), while Skyler Fox (79, +7), Xavier Schwarz (80, +8), and individual Josh Nagy (79, +7) rounded out the RMU contingent.
THE DETAILS
The Carpetbagger Classic, hosted by Bucknell University, is played at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md., a par-72, 7,034-yard course. This is the first time that the Colonials have competed in the event, but were previously scheduled to make their debut in 2020 before the season was brought to a halt.
