Moon Township, Pa. – RMU head softball coach
Jexx Varner announced Thursday that catcher Meadow Sacadura has joined the program after transferring from the University of Maryland.
"We're very excited to add Meadow to the program," Varner said. "This is a big addition for us that will strengthen us on multiple layers. She's going to be a good fit in our culture and is ready to compete for this team. On the field, she will provide us high-quality depth behind the plate and power potential in our lineup."
Sacadura, a native of Leonardtown, Md., was a four-year starter and three-time state champion at Bishop O'Connell High School. In addition to earning All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) First Team accolades each of her four years with the Knights, Sacadura was also a four-time all-state first team selection.
During her junior season at Bishop O'Connell, Sacadura paced the Knights in both batting average (.543) and on-base percentage (.581) en route to being named the program's Most Outstanding Player. An NFCA Scholar-Athlete who played travel ball for the Beverly Bandits, Sacadura was also named an Extra Innings High School All-American at catcher.
Led by Varner, the Colonials finished with an overall record of 25-19 (.568) in 2021, including a ledger of 20-14 (.588) in their first season as a member of the Horizon League. RMU reached the 25-win plateau for the first time since 2015 and qualified for the 2021 Horizon League Tournament as the No. 4 seed.
