SHREWSBURY, N.J. - Robert Morris men's hockey alumni Alex Tonge was named to the 2022 ECHL All-Star Game, it was announced Wednesday. Tonge becomes the fourth RMU alumni in program history to appear in the game, joining Cody Wydo, Ryan Cruthers and Aaron Clarke.
In his second season with the Norfolk Admirals, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and AHL's Chicago Wolves, Tonge is a 2019 graduate of Robert Morris and one of the most productive players in program history.
The Kingston, Ontario native averaged almost a point per game as a Colonial from 2015-2019, posting 138 points in 146 career contests, including 56 goals and 82 assists. He led the Colonials in scoring as a senior in 2018-19 with 39 points (19g-20a), his third straight season of 35-plus points, earning him an All-AHA Second Team nod.
He graduated RMU tied with Nathan Longpre '11 for fourth all-time in program scoring with 138 career points as well as the eighth-highest scoring active player in all of NCAA Division I hockey.
The All-Star game, which will take place on Monday, January 17 in Jacksonville, Florida, features a team of ECHL All-Stars playing the host Jacksonville Icemen who also boast several other RMU alumni on their roster including Justin Kapelmaster '20, Sean Giles '20 and Luke Lynch '20.
