Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU track & field team made its first of two stops at Kent State University this weekend, taking part in the Doug Raymond National Qualifier at the Kent State Field House in Kent, Ohio.
RECORD BREAKER
Senior
Tara Gologram made history Friday for the Colonials, establishing a new school record in the long jump and breaking a record that had stood for almost 14 years. Gologram recorded a leap of 5.78 meters (18'11.175") on her fifth attempt of the event, good enough to finish fourth. The distance breaks the old mark of 18'7.75" that was held by Melitta Brown (2006-10) and established Feb. 22, 2008, at LSU. Brown, a 2017 inductee into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame, had owned each of the top six marks in school history in the event before Gologram placed her last two performances into the top five, including the record breaker at the Doug Raymond National Qualifier. The performance by Gologram vaults her into a tie for second in the Horizon League in the event with Roseferia Philogene of Oakland.
HO HUM
Keturah Hunter continues to roll along during the 2021-22 indoor season for RMU, claiming yet another individual championship in the weight throw. On her first attempt of the event at Kent State she recorded a distance of 17.99 meters (59'0.25"), which helped her outlast Taylor Flight of Dayton (17.54 meters) and Grace Luther of Kent State (17.50 meters). Hunter has won gold in the weight throw in five of the six meets that she has competed in during the indoor campaign.
