Boston, Mass. – Freshman forward
Alaina Giampietro was awarded weekly honors by the CHA, announced by the league office today, Monday afternoon.
Giampietro for the first time this season earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Over the weekend in a two-game series against Clarkson, she scored two goals.
From Strongsville, Ohio, she's produced four goals and four assists totaling eight points in eight games. As a freshman, she's averaging a point per game.
Across the CHA conference, Giampietro is currently ranked first out of all freshmen in points (8), goals (4) and assists (4). Her eight points are tied third-best out of all players in the conference.
Giampietro is the third Colonial this season to earn a weekly award.
Morgan Giannone was awarded Offensive Player of the Week in the first two weeks of the season, and freshman
Janelle Evans was named Rookie of the Week, last week.
Up next, the Colonials begin conference play next weekend. Their CHA schedule will start on the road as they travel north to Erie, Pa. to take on Mercyhurst. The first game of the series will be on Friday, October 27 at 6:00 p.m. and again the following day at 1:00 p.m.
