Westlake, Ohio. – The RMU golf team competed at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational the past two days in Westlake, Ohio where they tied for 10th with Ohio University. The Colonials finished the invitational with an overall score of +1 (853) which has been their best finish to a tournament so far this season.
TEAM CHAMPION
Earning the first place spot was Butler who finished the invitational with a final score of -29 (823), including a -15 on the course today. Bowling Green and IUPUI finished tied for second (-17), while Marshall closed out with fourth place (-9). Purdue Fort Wayne and host school Cleveland State tied for fifth with a final score of -6.
LINING IT UP
Fifth-year
Logan Hess notched an impressive score of -4 (209) after two days of competition rounding out the invitational with a -1 today and finishing 10th individually.
Josh Nagy shot a steady -1 in each of the three rounds for a total of 70 at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational and closed out just outside the top 20 individually.
KEEP MOVING
Sophomore
Peyton Iverson had the biggest boost especially in the final day when he shot a -4 to close out the invitational. Iverson moved up 28 spots individually and had a total score of 216. Fifth-year
Alex Seelig shot his best mark in round two with a score of -2 but didn't close out the invitational the same way as he slipped to a +4 in the final round of play. Senior
Deven Stewart posted his best shots in round one when he had a +3 but ended up falling to a +6 (232) overall.
TEAM MOMENTUM
The Colonials had a total score of 289 after the first two rounds but ended up having an even better total of 282 in the final round to close out the invitational. RMU had their best team score of the season to date and had some impressive individual scores that will look to carry on to next week's invitational.
UP NEXT
RMU returns to the course next Sunday for their first three-day invitational of the season at Bucknell. The Colonials will take the short trip to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bucknell Fall Invitational which will conclude on Tuesday.
