  • The Robert Morris women's basketball team closes out its two-game road swing when it takes on Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Ind. at 2:00 p.m. at the Gates Sports Center.
  • Despite playing with a limited lineup, the Colonials are coming off a 61-43 defeat at league leading Cleveland State last Thursday morning.
  • Against the Vikings, sophomore forward Phoenix Gedeon recorded her ninth double-double of the season, registering 14 points and 16 boards, five of them coming on the offensive.
  • Gedeon scored 12 of her 14 points, while grabbing 10 of her 16 caroms in the second half. It's the 11th time this season Gedeon has paced the Colonials in scoring and the 12th time leading them in rebounds.
  • Classmate Simone Morris finished with nine points and six rebounds, while going three-of-three from the charity stripe. Sophomore guard Rebecca Dwomoh chipped in eight points, two boards, two assists, and a pair of three-pointers.
  • Junior guard Mackenzie Amalia boasted seven points and a career-high seven caroms, while collecting two steals and sophomore center Danielle Vuletich carded seven rebounds and three assists in the loss.
  • Robert Morris closes out their road swing against the Mastodons before returning to the UPMC Events Center for four consecutive home games.

The All-Time Series (Purdue Fort Wayne) – Come Saturday afternoon, it'll be the seventh all-time meeting between the Mastodons and Colonials. Robert Morris holds a 4-2 record in the series, winning four of the last five meetings. The two squads met earlier this season (12/29/22) with Purdue Fort Wayne capturing a 52-41 victory. The Mastodons held a 37-35 lead early in the fourth quarter, before using an 8-0 run late to post the victory. Simone Morris paced the Colonials with 14 points while grabbing five rebounds, one steal, and a block. Phoenix Gedeon registered another double-double with 11 points and 11 caroms, while sophomore Alejandra Mastral collected three steals. Over the last six games in the series, RMU is averaging 61.17 points per game while holding Purdue Fort Wayne to 56.33.

Scouting The Mastodons – Purdue Fort Wayne comes into Saturday's contest on a four-game winning streak, holding a 10-13 overall record behind a 7-6 mark in Horizon League action. The Mastodons are coming off a come-from-behind victory, taking down preseason favorite Youngstown State, 67-65. Thursday's win was the first time Purdue Fort Wayne has beaten YSU since November 20, 2010. It also marks the first time since the 2013-14 season that the program has had a 10-win season. Shayla Sellers led the Mastodons with 19 points on the strength of 8-of-13 shooting. Jazzlyn Linbo added a career-high 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor.

Amellia Bromenschenkel leads Purdue Fort Wayne with 12.7 points, 4.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 45.2 percent from the field. Shayla Sellers sits second on the team with 9.4 points per game while collecting 4.0 boards, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 assists per contest. As a team, the Mastodons sit third in the Horizon League with 7.9 three-pointers per game and have hit seven or more triples in 14 games this season.

Finishing Strong – Phoenix Gedeon has been a consistent presence for the Colonials this season after posting her ninth double-double against Cleveland State. In the last seven games, Gedeon has scored in double figures in five contests, averaging 13.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. She has recorded a double-double in four of the seven contests while shooting 73.6 percent from the charity stripe. The Montreal native ranks third in the league in rebounding at 8.3 and sitting seventh in scoring at 13.2.
