Opening Face-Off
- RMU men's lacrosse are returning home to the Joe Walton Stadium to host the Hobart Statesmen of Geneva, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon.
- Last time out, the Colonials took down Canisius (2/26) on a cold day in Buffalo, N.Y., 13-8. 11 total players registered a point in the game.
- Taggart Clark recorded five goals and two assists on the day. David Burr followed up with another hat trick and senior Ben Starkey scored a brace.
- Sophomore Zach Seppi in the face-off circle won 11-of-20 face-off's and scooped up seven ground balls.
- In RMU's home opener, the team put together an impressive performance on both sides of the field, beating St. Bonaventure 15-6 (2/21).
- David Burr provided a five-point game (three goals, two assists) against the Bonnies.
- Taggart Clark, Ben Starkey and Kean Moon all tallied two goals each.
- With the Colonials impressive week, Taggart Clark and Nate Randall swept the ASUN awards, as Clark was awarded Player of the Week and Randall was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week. In two games, Clark produced seven goals and 11 points. Between the pipes, Randall made 22 saves and recorded a .631 save percentage across both matches earning two wins.
- Head coach Craig McDonald now owns a 13-6 overall record and remains 4-1 in ASUN conference play.

The All-Time Series (Hobart) – On Saturday, this will be the 12
th time in team history the Colonials play the Statesmen. All-time, RMU is 5-6 against Hobart.

Coming into this game, RMU is on a three-game win-streak against Hobart, winning all games by one goal, including two overtime wins. The most recent game came on May 4
th of 2019 in Emmitsburg, Md., the Colonials beat Hobart in the NEC Championship game, 11-10.
Owen Down and
James Christoforatos in that game scooped up two ground balls and helped lead their team to their last NEC title before moving to the ASUN conference. A week before that, the Colonials hosted the Statesmen to end the regular season, winning 16-15 in OT. At that time as freshman,
Will Johansen caused two turnovers in that match, and
Owen Down and
Taggart Clark caused one turnover each.

From 2016 to 2018, the two programs faced off once each season. Associate Head Coach
Adrian Torok-Orban had great success against the Statesmen scoring eight goals in those three games.

The first meeting against the statesmen came back in 2005. The Colonials lost 15-10 to Hobart, who was ranked #16 at that time.

Scouting the Statesmen – Overall, Hobart is 2-2 so far in the 2023 campaign. They've earned wins against Canisius and Colgate, and have lost to Lehigh and #3 Cornell. For the Statesmen, Anthony Dattellas is their leading scorer with 11 goals and two assists. Will Delano is right behind him with five goals and four assists. In net for the program, has been Loukas Sotiropoulos. He's made 56 saves with a .491 save percentage through four games starting in goal. Adam Shea is the team's face-off specialist. Out of 91 face-offs', Shea has won 50 (.549), and has picked up a team-high 28 ground balls.

As a team, Hobart is averaging 12.75 goals per game. They've converted 6-out-of-12 times on man-up opportunities and have successfully cleared 84.1% of the time.

Hobart's program started all the way back in 1898. Since then, the school has been a part of a few different conferences including the NEC for a time, playing the Colonials. Most recently, the program joined the Atlantic10 conference for the 2023 season. Against current teams in the A10, RMU has picked up 13 total wins against Hobart (5), Saint Joseph's (4), High Point (3) and a 15-6 win this season vs. St. Bonaventure (2/21). Next week, RMU will go to High Point to end their non-conference schedule.

STELLAR START
Four weeks into the 2023 season, RMU is currently one of seven Division 1 teams remaining in the country that are undefeated. "Lacrosse Reference", a website uploading team ratings, player stats and in-depth statistical analysis, has RMU ranked #11 in the country, going into week five. The Colonials three wins to begin the season, tied their second-best start in program history. They won their first three games back in 2012, beating Bellarmine, UMBC and Air Force. The best start in program history came back in 2010, as they won their first five tilts against Penn State, Manhattan, VMI, Ohio State and Detroit Mercy.

YOUTH DAY
On Saturday, March 4
th against Hobart, the Colonials are hosting 'Youth Day' at Joe Walton Stadium. Fans can get a
free youth ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket. Kids must be 12 and under.
