Multiple Relay Records Fall at Colonial Relays

RMU sets new program standard in three different relays at William & Mary

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU women's track & field team wrapped up the Colonial Relays Saturday, compiling 29 points in finishing ninth among 33 teams that scored at Zable Stadium at Cary Field in Williamsburg, Va., on the campus of William & Mary.

TEAM CHAMPION

The host Tribe claimed the team crown Saturday, finishing with 136.5 points to outlast Brown (91), Hampton (87) and Bucknell (84.5). Columbia finished fifth with 59 points, followed by Duquesne (43), New Hampshire (35) and Shippensburg (32).

SCHOOL STANDARD (100)
The Colonials lived up to the name of the meet Saturday, establishing school records in three different relays at, fittingly, the Colonial Relays. In the 4x100-meter relay, RMU finished with a time of 46.52 seconds to earn silver, just missing out on claiming the individual crown that was won by William & Mary (46.18). The team consisted of fifth-year Tara Gologram, junior Gracie Parker and sophomores Hannah McDanel and Maddie Raymond. The quartet broke the old record of 46.76 seconds that was established at the Penn Relays last season. That team also saw Gologram, McDanel and Raymond as part of the relay, with Elicia Moore running the second leg. In the last 12 months, RMU has posted the top five times in program history in the 4x100-meter relay.

SCHOOL RECORD (200)

Moore, meanwhile, ran the second leg of the RMU 4x200-meter relay team that clocked in with a time of 1:42.50, establishing a new program standard. Gologram also ran the opening leg of that relay and was joined by Raymond and Parker. RMU finished fifth in the event and broke the previous school record of 1:43.41 that came on the same track back in 2014 as part of the Colonial Relays.

MORE RELAY RACES

The RMU 4x400-meter relay also scored for the Colonials Saturday, posting a time of 4:00.37 to finish seventh. McDanel ran the opening leg and was followed by Moore, with sophomore Grace Mason and freshman Ailena Reynolds-Diaz closing out for RMU.

PROGRAM STANDARD (DMR)

The third relay record to fall for the Colonials Saturday came in the distance medley, with RMU posting a time of 12:23.85 to produce a new program standard. This time, the four members of the team are each underclassmen. In addition to Reynolds-Diaz running the second leg and Mason the third for the Colonials, freshman Erin LaQuatra ran the opener and sophomore Frances Kabana closed it out. The previous record of 12:26.68 also came at the Colonial Relays at William & Mary in 2014.

FIELD HAPPENINGS

In the triple jump Saturday for the Colonials, sophomore Rayna Todero finished fourth thanks to a leap of 11.34 meters (37.2.50"), while freshman Mariya Chamberlain claimed sixth at 11.16 meters (36'7.50"). In the shot put, junior Madelyn Resciniti posted a throw of 10.83 meters (35'6.50"), while sophomore Zoee Gologram finished at 30.95 meters (101'6") in the discus.
