Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team concluded play in the 2023 Horizon League Championships Tuesday in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., posting its best round of the tournament with a 291 (+3) to claim a 904 (+40) overall. The Colonials finished seventh, a stroke behind Northern Kentucky and a stroke in front of Youngstown State.
TEAM CHAMPION
Purdue Fort Wayne concluded the 2023 Horizon League Championships with a wire-to-wire victory Tuesday. Opening with a 290, posting a 290 in the second round and wrapping up with a 290 Tuesday, the Mastodons finished the championships at 870 (+2), five strokes ahead of Wright State (875). Oakland (877) finished third and was followed by Cleveland State and IUPUI, as each carded a 901.

Josh Nagy saved his best for last Tuesday on the El Campeon course at Mission Inn Resort, moving into a four-way tie for first place down the stretch of the championships before closing with a 69 (-3). He earned his third top five finish of the 2022-23 season, tying for fourth with Mikkel Mathiesen of Wright State at 215 (-1). Nagy opened with three birdies on the back nine to sit three under and notched not one but two eagles during his final nine of the championships. On the 470-yard par five at No. 1, Nagy carded his first eagle before closing out his round with another eagle at No. 9, a 353-yard par four.

Chase Miller made history Tuesday in the third and final round of the 2023 Horizon League Championships, as he became the
first student-athlete in program history to play 100 career rounds at RMU. In his final round with the Colonials, Miller finished with a 73 (+1). He notched a pair of birdies on the back nine en route to six overall during the championships and for 54 holes concluded with a 225 (+9). He tied for 17th individually with Kevin Tillery of IUPUI.
MILLER TIME
In his final two seasons with the Colonials, Miller was as consistent a player on the links as any for RMU. He averaged 74.9 strokes during the 2022-23 season, the exact same scoring average he posted during the 2021-22 campaign. Thanks to a career average of 75.44 strokes per round, Miller wraps up his career ranked fifth in program history.

Logan Hess closed the 2023 Horizon League Championships Tuesday with a second consecutive 77 to finish the three rounds at 232 (+16). Hess finished three strokes ahead of senior

THE RANKINGS
Nagy concludes his 2022-23 season with an average score of 73.0, which ranks second in program history. He trails only C.G. Mercatoris (2007-11), who established the single-season scoring average of 72.8 strokes during his final season with the program in 2010-11 en route to winning medalist honors at the 2011 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships and a spot in the NCAA Colorado Regional. Nagy, who averaged 73.3 strokes during the 2021-22 season, also ranks second in the RMU career records for scoring average at 74.02.
