Coleman Tabbed MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Chelsea Coleman earns first career weekly award

Moon Township, Pa. – Following her performance against Central Michigan, sophomore midfielder Chelsea Coleman was selected as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Coleman, a native of Reisterstown, Maryland, had an all-around productive performance in helping the Colonials secure a share of the conference regular season title, with a 12-11 come from behind victory in overtime over the Chippewas on Saturday (4/29). She tied for the team lead with five draw controls while collecting two ground balls and causing two turnovers. Coleman also finished the afternoon with three points while carding two scores and the game-winning assist in overtime.

The Franklin product finished the regular season ranked seventh in the conference in scores (36) while sitting ninth in total points (42). She ended the season netting a goal in 16 consecutive games while leading the Colonials with 19 caused turnovers, which ranks sixth in the league.

Coleman is just one of six Colonials to start in all 17 games this season. This will be the first time she has been honored by the MAC in her career.
