Opening Kick-Off
- RMU started off their season with back-to-back games in Virginia, at VMI and Hampton. The Colonials came away victorious in both, beating VMI, 3-0 and Hampton, 1-0.
- In Week 1 of the regular season, goalkeeper Brenna Murray was named Horizon League Under Armour Defensive Player of the Week for posting two clean sheets, making 10 saves and earning two wins on the road.
- So far, through two games Lidia Nduka leads the team in goals with two. The team's lone goal against Hampton came off the foot of Nduka's penalty kick.
- After facing Akron, RMU finishes their road trip at Saint Francis this Sunday, August 27 at 4:00 p.m. The home opener for the women's soccer program will be on Thursday, August 31 with kick-off at 4:00 p.m.
- Last year the Colonials finished with a 7-7-4 overall record, including a 6-3-3 record at home.
- Kaoru Hayashi returns to the pitch. In 2020 and 2021 she earned Horizon League All-Conference Second Team honors. Also, in 2021 she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team.
- In the 2022 season, Malia Kearns was named to the #HLWSOC All-Freshman Team, tallying two goals and three assists in the campaign. She finished the year playing just under 1,300 minutes.
- Head coach Chris Shaw enters his fourth year as the bench boss for the Colonials. Assistant coach Brianna Murgi is back for her second season and goalkeeper coach Erik Eisenhut returns for his fifth year with the program.

The All-Time Series (Akron) – The Colonials will be looking for their first win in program history against Akron tomorrow. The first two games between these programs came back in 2001 and 2002. In both games, the score was close but Akron came away winning 1-0 both times. Most recently the team's played in 2019, and RMU fell in a close battle 1-0, in Akron.

Scouting the Zips – This past season, Akron went 3-9-4 overall and 2-7-2 in the MAC conference. The team brings back their two leading goal scorers in Ella Hadley and Emma King. Both players finished last year with six goals and three assists. Akron's starting goalkeeper, Penelope Cuirinier played in 12 games last year, making 65 total saves. Currently, the team is 1-1 on the year, after playing two Horizon League members in Ohio. Against Cleveland State, the Zips won 3-1, and against Youngstown State, they dropped their first loss of the year, by a score of 1-0. Ella Hadley scored one of the goals against the Vikings and junior Morgan Pentz produced a brace.

SUPER START
After the Colonials took down Hampton in their previous match, it was the first time since 2008 that the women's soccer program went the first 180 minutes disallowing the opponent to score. Head coach
Chris Shaw and his squad began the 2022 season with a 5-0-3 record, avoiding a loss through the first eight games. Starting the season 2-0, RMU will play six more non-conference games before Horizon League play begins.

DEPTH PRODUCTION
Through the first two matches of 2023, seven different players have already added a goal or an assist to their resume.
Lidia Nduka leads the team in goals with two.
Taylor Day and
Kaoru Hayashi have each found the back of the net once. And, in the attacking third,
Malia Kearns,
Renae Mohrbacher,
Elisa Corvalan and
Haleigh Finale have all dished out one assist.
