Opening Kick-Off
- The Robert Morris men's soccer team prepares for another non-conference test as they take on Duquesne in downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m.
- Last time out, the Colonials took down Northern Kentucky, 2-1, in their first conference game of the season.
- Against the Norse, RMU went down 1-0. In the second half, they climbed back by scoring two goals off penalty kicks. Freshman Yanis Rucquois and sophomore Anass Hadran both found the back of the net from the penalty dot.
- Hadran's goal came with three seconds left in the game. Chase Gilley was taken down in the box, awarding the team the penalty kick. The Moroccan finished his shot into the bottom-right corner giving the Colonials the victory.
- Through the first five games of the season, head coach Jonathan Potter in his first season as the bench boss has yet to lose a game.
- Potter, along with assistants Abraham Lopez-Mendoza and Austin Gorman, earned their first victory for RMU, beating VMI 5-0, in the home opener. The 2-1 win against NKU is the staff's first conference win.

The All-Time Series (Duquesne) – Being just 13 miles apart, the two programs have played on several occasions, including exhibitions. The first match-up came all the way back in 1995, as the Colonials beat the Dukes on the bluff, 1-0. All-time, RMU has collected six wins vs. Duquesne. In this series, 15 times the game has ended with one team winning by one goal. Four games have gone to double-overtime and another two have ended in single-overtime. Scouting the Dukes – This past season, Duquesne finished 11-4-4 overall and 4-1-3 in conference. Their leading goal scorer and point producer was a freshman from Norway, Ask Ekeland, recording eight goals and one assist. Up top, the Duke's other playmaker was sophomore Maxi Hopfer. The Austrian produced five goals and four assists. Dishing out the most helpers for the Dukes was West Allegheny talent Nate Dragisich, serving seven assists in his junior campaign. In goal, Domenic Nascimben played and started in all 19 games, earning 11 wins, making 85 saves and owning a .833 save percentage. Playing in the Atlantic 10 conference, the Dukes beat La Salle, 2-1 in the first round of the A10 playoffs. Their season ended with a 1-0 loss to Loyola Chicago in the semifinal round.

So far, in 2023, the Dukes are 2-1-1 and have yet to play a conference game. They beat Virginia Tech, 5-1 and Niagara, 2-1. Duquesne's only home game so far featured a 2-2 tie against Bowling Green and their only loss happened in the first game of the season, losing 3-1 against James Madison. Through their first four games, Maryland native, Jayden Da is the team's point leader, posting four goals and one assist so far. Ask Ekeland is right behind him with three goals and one assist. Junior goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy has started and played in all four games for Duquesne, making 20 stops.

TOP OF THE HORIZON
RMU is currently at the top of the standings in the Horizon League. All 10 teams in the conference played their first conference game this past weekend. The Colonials are one of five teams that won that first conference test. With two wins and two ties in their non-conference slate to open the campaign, RMU's win percentage of .800 is best across the Horizon.
