ROCHESTER, MICH. – The RMU men's soccer team dropped a close contest to Oakland, falling 3-2 after two second-half goals by the Golden Grizzlies. RMU now sits at 7-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in Horizon League play, holding second place in the conference standings.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Oakland's Andrew Darakdjian received a yellow card in the 11th minute.
- Just two minutes later, Oakland scored to take an early 1-0 lead.
- RMU responded in the 20th minute as Anass Hadran crossed the ball into the box to Chase Gilley, who laid it off for John Paul Mbuthia to score on his first touch.
- The Colonials took the lead in the 43rd minute when Tim Koczulap's corner kick found Kosi Udeh, who headed in his third goal of the season.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Oakland regained control with two quick goals between the 64th and 68th minutes.
- The game became increasingly physical, with two players on each side shown yellow cards in the final stretch.
- Despite three more shots from RMU in the last 20 minutes, they were unable to equalize.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Oakland outshot RMU 14-9, with both teams recording five shots on target. The Golden Grizzlies held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

John Paul Mbuthia, a Mooresville, N.C. native, scored for the third consecutive game, bringing his season total to five goals and one assist. Defender
Tim Koczulap also registered an assist for the second game in a row, totaling two goals and five assists this season.

RMU returns home to face Detroit Mercy in Horizon League action on Friday, November 1, at 3:00 PM. The match will also serve as Senior Day, marking RMU's final home game of the regular season.
