MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The RMU Men's Golf Program dates back to 1985.
Chuck Tragesser has been a member of the team for a total of four events. However, his performance on September 29 was one of the best in the 41-year history of the program.
Tragesser was crowned co-champion of the Virtues Intercollegiate, sharing first place with Yuqi Liu of Michigan. His 65 strokes tied the lowest single-round stroke total on record (records date back to 1996) equaling Max Cahn (2009), Garrett Browning (2014) and Ryan Prokay (2015). The -7 is the lowest score by par on record.
"Chuck's win at Virtues is without question one of if not the single biggest individual accomplishment in RMU Golf history," said head coach
Steve Shingledecker. "Virtues was packed with outstanding teams and players from the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, James Madison and Kent State. To win against a field of this caliber is huge for him and our program. His back nine 32 and final round 65 on a par 72 in the rain and near darkness was something special to watch."
RMU returns to the links to play in the RedHawk Intercollegiate on October 14-15 at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
