MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team fell in a close battle against Oakland, 55-53 at the UPMC Events Center. The Colonials are now 4-7 on the season with a 1-2 mark in Horizon League play.
FIRST QUARTER
- RMU started the game playing stout defense as Oakland had only scored two points in the first five minutes of the quarter.
- Both teams shot their lowest percentages from the floor in this frame as they was only 18 points combined between the two squads.
- The Golden Grizzlies made back to back three-pointers to end the quarter as Oakland held a 10-8 lead.
SECOND QUARTER
- The Colonials flipped a switch on offense as RMU shot a game-high 58 percent from the floor in this quarter.
- Noa Givon led the charge for RMU as she scored nine of her 16 points in this quarter highlighted by a corner three-pointer with just a few seconds remaining in the frame.
- RMU controlled the paint in the second quarter as they had 10 points in the interior compared to Oakland who had four.
THIRD QUARTER
- Coming out the break both squads were ready to score as there was a game-high 34 points scored in this quarter.
- RMU forward Danielle Vuletich brought the energy for the Colonials as she had 12 points in the frame along with two momentum changing three-point scoring plays.
- The Colonials had a 12-0 scoring run in this quarter but the Golden Grizzlies managed to end the quarter trailing by four points.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Colonials struggled to get their shots off in this frame as they had just seven shot attempts in the quarter.
- RMU had the lead up until the 3:16 mark when Oakland guard Maddy Skorupski nailed a triple to put the Golden Grizzlies up 50-48.
- The Colonials had a chance to take the lead back after Raissa Nsabua finished at the rim for a tough layup that cut the Oakland lead to two with 48 seconds remaining.
- After back to back turnovers from each team, RMU had a chance to tie or even win the game with the final seconds winding down. Jada Lee attempted a jumper just past the free-throw line but it didn't fall as the Colonials fell, 55-53.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
RMU senior forward
Danielle Vuletich matched a career-high with 19 points scored against Oakland while also hauling in a team-high eight rebounds.
Noa Givon finished the game with 16 points and had her best defensive performance of the season with four steals against the Golden Grizzlies.

The Colonials will play in their final non-conference game of the season when they welcome in St. Bonaventure to the UPMC Events Center on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and can be seen streaming live on ESPN+.
